Statement: Programme Update

Southend United Community & Educational Trust is pleased to announce the return of its Premier League Kicks (PL Kicks) and Soccer Schools programmes in the local community.

The charity’s community projects were officially suspended as of Friday 20th March due to COVID-19. Usual face-to-face delivery became virtual as the country went into lockdown.

PL Kicks will be coming back on Wednesday 22nd July, with free of charge sessions for 11-19 year olds initially taking place at Garon Park on Mondays and Wednesdays 4-6pm.

There is a maximum of 20 spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone interested in attending should contact Dan Hall on d.hall@southendunited-cet.co.uk.

Soccer Schools are scheduled to start on Monday 3rd August across four venues – Garon Park, Hadleigh Junior School, Hullbridge Sports & Social Club and St Mary’s Prittlewell C of E Primary School (invitation only). Information regarding age range, timings, prices and how to book can be found at www.officialsoccerschools.co.uk/southendunited.

All sessions will be carried out in line with the latest government guidelines and the appropriate safety measures will be put in place.

Demetriou visits Soccer Schools at Garon Park

Southend United’s Jason Demetriou took time out to visit children at Southend United Community & Educational Trust’s Soccer Schools at Garon Park this February half term.

In front of over 50 children, the Cypriot international answered a variety of questions on the best players he’s played against, his career highlights and what age he began playing football.

The children then got a photo with Demetriou on the Garon Park Astroturf.

Aiming to inspire future generations and create memories of a lifetime, Soccer Schools are delivered by qualified Community Coaches who run tailored, innovative and dynamic sessions where participants are able to fulfil their potential.

Demetriou commented:

“The setup here at Garon Park is fantastic and it was a brilliant turnout today.

“It was a great 15-20 minutes with the kids and I think they enjoyed it.

“This [Soccer Schools] is where the kids learn and it builds into the club’s future attracting younger fans.”
